Overview
Huang Wenxiu graduated with a master's degree from Beijing Normal University. She gave up job opportunities in the big city and returned to her hometown where she was born and raised. She worked in the Propaganda Department of the Baise Municipal Party Committee. In March 2018, she took the initiative to work in the poorest village in Guangxi. She served as the first secretary of Baini Village. She visited poor households and analyzed the causes of their poverty. She studied poverty alleviation strategies with the village committees, formulated a working plan, and made efforts to promote it. Huang Wenxiu overcame difficulties and worked tirelessly to successfully lift 88 poor households out of poverty in a little over a year. However, she was then killed by heavy flooding, a martyr in the fight for poverty alleviation. Although Huang Wenxiu died, poverty alleviation did not end. Others picked up Huang Wenxiu's baton and worked hard to lift Baini Village out of poverty.
