Weekly Recap: Se7en & Sangchu's not so happy ending, Sunggyu's controversy, and more

The other day I was watching an episode of 'Friendsby myself while eatingOreos(sans milk). Well, it started off with one episode, but I ended up finishing season one by 2 a.m. That sounds more pathetic than I intended for it to sound, but in my defense, I find the sitcom therapeutic. Some people go jogging when something's bothering them; others go clubbing, sleep, eat, or break stuff. I watch "Friends." To each their own, I suppose.

But that's besides the point entirely. Let us traverse back into the K-pop sphere and revisit some of the stories headlining this wild and crazy week.

It's most certainly been an eventful week in terms of K-pop scandals.

So much so that this entire week I feel like I just kept refreshing my allkpop feed like so...

Here's why:

Shocking footage of Se7en and other top celebrity soldiers visiting 'Happy Ending'  massage parlors

Sangchu of Mighty MouthandSe7en were caught frequenting the "wrong kind" of massage parlors while still on duty.

During the broadcast of SBS's'On-Site 21', reporters followed the celebrity recruits after they performed at an event and went to their motel. After eating barbecued chicken and drinking beer and soju, the recruits came back to the motel in civilian clothing. Two of the recruits (Se7en and Sangchu) were later spotted going to a massage parlor nearby.

After the pair came out half an hour later, the reporter tried asking them to comment, but Se7en and Sangchu tried to snatch and destroy the camera. Because nothing screams "I'm innocent" quite as convincingly as trying to destroy the evidence.

After Se7en and Sangchu left in a taxi, the reporter then proceeded to enter the massage parlor and noted that the parlor doesn't let anyone in under the age of 19. The manager revealed that"No one comes to get just a massage. They come for what you're thinking."

Upon initial reading, I was just as confused as to why people were making such a big deal, but I have since become enlightened.

Basically, Se7en and Sangchu should not, under any circumstances, have decided it'd be appropriate for them to go outside of their dormitories and drink while still on duty, let alone go to a massage parlor. For those of you who are unfamiliar with massage parlors in Korea - certain ones with bright neon signs aren't as innocent as you might've assumed.

Massage parlors are actually infamously known to serve as brothels. Are you blown mind yet? Oops, I mean mind blown.

But Wait - just when it seems as though the situation couldn't look any worse than it already does, Sangchu's label rose to the challenge and triumphed.

Sangchu's label explains Sangchu was looking to get a Chinese massage and went into the 'wrong kind' of massage parlor by mistake

My reaction when I first read the headline:

To be fair, YMC Entertainmentreally didn't have a lot to work off of, but this explanation seems like it's begging us not to believe them. They might as well not have said anything a laYG- that might have been significantly less destructive.

YMC did explain that"it's definitely wrong he left the dorms to go out and we have no excuse for that."But they go on to say that he"wanted a Chinese massage at first, but he mistakenly went into the wrong kind of massage parlor... we are sad because the story is portrayed like he visited the massage parlor on purpose."You can't be serious. So a grown male who's had a couple of drinks walks around in the wee hours of the morning looking for a Chinese massage? Yup, I'm sold.

CJ E&M says Roy Kim and Park Soo Jin did meet a few times, but aren't dating now

Roy Kim's agencyCJ E&M revealed through an official press release that though"it's true the two expressed interest in each other and met with each other a few times... they aren't seeing each other anymore and aren't dating."

CJ E&M was responding to thescandal that brokeout claiming that the singer Roy Kim (20) and singer-turned-actress Park Soo Jin (28) were dating.

Though it's always exciting when news of a new celebrity couple comes about, maybe it worked out for the better that these two aren't dating, given Roy Kim recently made his first step into the K-pop scene with his debut album,Love Love Love

I guess the one thing we can take away from this is that Roy Kim likes his women older. But aside from that, I really don't know what I'm supposed to say about this ordeal. I mean, sure it's great if they decide it'd be in their best interest to start dating, but if they decide against it, that's fine, too...

Moving on.

Baek Ji Young reported to have suffered a miscarriage

So sad: Recently wedded Baek Ji Young (38) has been reported to have suffered a miscarriage.

The news of her miscarriage is particularly tragic considering she and her husband,Jung Suk Won,previously announced their expectancy and tied the knot on the 2nd. It's always difficult when what should have been a blissful couple of months ahead of the newlyweds is met with this kind of heartbreak.

Here's hoping for her speedy recovery and strength through this tragic ordeal!

INFINITE's Sunggyu swept up in a controversy concerning words directed towards women in their thirties + Woollim Entertainment responds

In a BTS video oftvN's'Genius: Rules of the Game', INFINITE's Sunggyu made a poor wording decision when he referred toPark Eun Jias a'yomul'.

'Yomul',when used to describe women, connotes someone who is good at luring in men for her benefit; basically implying that she's sly, deceitful and wicked.

Woollim Entertainmentrushed to justify, saying that Sunggyu didn't have bad intentions and that he"said it at the time just going along with the atmosphere of the conversation. It was released in an exaggerated form."

Viewers have been condemning his choice in words, and as such, Sunggyu apologized for his statement.

He tweeted,"Hello. This is Sunggyu. The situation is not a controversy or misunderstanding. It's completely my fault. I sincerely apologize to anyone who has been disappointed or hurt by my careless words. I'll reflect [on my words] with a humble heart, realize [what I've done], and be more respectful towards people."

Personally, I'm making an extensive effort to understand what the big deal is, but I'm coming up blank. I mean, is this reallythatunsettling?

Sure, he made a mistake, but it's silly to think that it has to be blown so out of proportion. People make mistakes all the time -reallyembarrassing mistakes, even. Here's a bridge,

Girl's Day' Yura's revealing outfit in "Female President" MV was actually full-body tights?

DreamT Entertainmentresponded to rumors circulating around her questionable outfit in the"Female President" MV

"Yura's outfit is a pair of full-body tights. Because it is not a one-piece dress, certain parts of her body weren't exposed."

Well, DreamT Entertainment, you justhadto choose those particular full-body tights, didn't you? I'm not the biggest fan of the outfit, to be honest (see myOP-ED here). And I'm not entirely convinced that she's wearing full-body tights. Regardless, it brought attention to the group and it all worked out in the end.

That's it for this week, here's hoping that next week can top this weeks drama!
