[ASKKPOP] [POLL] Solo vs. Group: Female Idol Promotions (Part Two)
It's not uncommon these days for members of idol groups to go down solo paths once in a while as the rest of the group takes a break or each member does her own thing. While a lot of them don't deviate much from the normal group image, some show a new charm or side to themselves for their solo careers--a concept they personally get to shape that shows off their individuality.
Here's a poll to choose which you prefer--solo or group promotions for certain girl group members! Of course picking solo doesn't mean her promotions as part of a group are bad, nor does picking the group mean the solo was a failure; it can depend entirely on your preference for music genres or images. Vote down below for the five female idols.
ELSIE vs T-ara's Eunjung
Eunjung just made her debut as a solo artist, but there was no big fanfare! It was a very modest affair, actually, and she uses the subtlety of her debut to emphasize that she's back more as an artist than an idol. There's a mature elegance and sweet vulnerability to her solo comeback, which is strikingly different from the very confident, slightly edgy image she's shown through T-ara. So which do you prefer?
Hyosung vs. SECRET's Hyosung
Hyosung's made her comeback as a sexy solo artist. She's just as alluring as she is when promoting with SECRET, but there is a slight difference. There is more artistry in her solo work as she uses both confident sexiness and a vibe of vulnerability for an interesting dichotomy. She appears seductive, but she also appears romantic, wanting a loved one to be hers. In SECRET, she gives off a more diva vibe, all confidence, all fanfare. In SECRET, she also shows a cute, sweet side, as well.
Hyorin vs. SISTAR's Hyorin
Hyorin made an interesting solo debut. While SISTAR's Hyorin is complete diva status from her strut to her confidence, she went for a much more artistic, individualistic concept for her solo debut. Rather than belting her vocals, she touches emotional strings as a solo artist for a delicate vibe that is lacking in SISTAR's usually bold and daring concepts.
Lizzy vs. After School's Lizzy
After School's Lizzy is sexy and gorgeous, showing off her long legs with pride and looking like a runway model. She went for a slightly moreOrange Caramelvibe for her solo debut, but that's not entirely accurate either. She retains the quirkiness, but she goes for an interesting trot concept! Which do you like better?
CL vs. 2NE1's CL
CL has badass swag no matter what she does, but she's particularly ruthless to her fans in her solo debut, making them swoon by how bad "the baddest female" can be. She's rawer as a solo artist, looking tough and at ease. However, as a group, she shows her more artistic style, looking as if there are deep thoughts haunting her mind. There's a heaviness in what she does as a part of 2NE1 as if intent on relaying a deeper message.
