Original English-Language Programming to Include Weekly Pop Culture Talk Show

Mnet America (www.mnetamerica.com) and Bright House Networks are bringing the best in Asian pop culture and entertainment to Bright House Networks customers in all of their markets nationwide – from hit Korean pop (K-pop) music to original programming highlighting some of the biggest Asian American talent to hit the TV screen. This includes new episodes of Angry Little Asian Girl,an animated series from the mind of Southern California native Lela Lee which follows around the life of a snarky girl as she tries to juggle the two cultures that make up her world. 

Mnet America, the leading national, English-language lifestyle TV network in the U.S. for fans of Asian pop culture, is now available to Bright House Networks basic digital customers in Central Florida (channel 474), Tampa, Florida (channel 632), Indianapolis, Indiana (channel 181), Detroit, Michigan (channel 184), Bakersfield, California (channel 94) and Birmingham, Alabama (channel 181).

The network also features Asian American entertainment's most popular special programming including M! COUNTDOWN, the #1 K-pop countdown series in the world showcasing the latest hit videos, live performances, and intimate behind the scenes stories of audiences' favorite K-pop bands. Mnet America produces and broadcasts coverage of KCON, North America's biggest Korean pop culture convention, as well as airing coverage of events and concerts from around the world including the Mnet Asian Music Awards.

Programming Highlights:

ANGRY LITTLE ASIAN GIRL – Imagine "South Park" with an Asian attitude. Angry Little Asian Girl is an animated series that explores the frustrations of being a modern Asian girl growing up with traditional parents, dealing with ignorant adults and surviving in a world where everyone is blonde. Angry Little Asian Girl is a character created by Lela Lee that has garnered a huge cult following on the web and includes other "Angry Little Girls" who all touch on stereotypes, injustices and the everyday annoyances of being a girl in the world. These characters have struck a cultural nerve with women everywhere and the franchise includes comic strips, short films and currently six books. "Angry Little Girls" also has widely popular merchandize such as T-shirts, bags, wallets, cards, pens, pencils, and lunchboxes (www.angrylittlegirls.com). New episodes of Angry Little Asian Girl premiere later this year. 

DANNY FROM LA – K-pop icon, Danny Im, of the Korean hip hop group 1TYM, is the host of Mnet America's pop culture talk show, Danny From LA. A weekly half-hour show, DFLA features popular Asian music, culture and media content for all viewers. The show will be presented on TV and online. Each week, Danny and his co-host, Kevin Shea, will speak with special guests, including idols, artists, actors, sports stars and other top personalities. They'll be discussing behind-the-scenes info, what's happening in popular media, and other topics from the off-beat to fascinating.  Danny from LA airs Thursdays at 7pm ET/PT.

JJANG! – The one stop shop for K-Pop fans to get everything they need to stay up to date on all the latest Korean entertainment news. Filmed in Seoul, Korea, host Jake Pracett, guides fans through a collection of skits, the hottest breaking news and gossip-y news tidbits straight from the heart of K-Pop and K-Drama. Jjiang airs Tuesdays at 7pm ET/PT.

POP THIS WAY – Mnet America's new hosted original series that explores music videos from around the globe. Tune in each week to hang with the hottest multi-cultural VJ's as they present their playlists. Each music video is flavored with facts about your favorite artists. From K-Pop to American Hip-hop, "Pop This Way" has something for everyone. Pop This Away airs Wednesdays at 7pm ET/PT.

#mykpop – Six of the country's biggest K-pop fans will head to Los Angeles for the two day Mnet America produced event, KCON 2013. Cameras will capture all the excitement and follow their adventure as they get to go behind the scenes at America's biggest Korean pop culture convention and concert. KCON 2013 will take place August 24- 25, 2013.

M! COUNTDOWN – The number one rated music TV series in Korea, and syndicated throughout Asia, counts down the hottest hits and features live performances by artists from the U.S. and Asia. M!COUNTDOWN can be viewed on Mnet America LIVE at 5am ET/2am PT Thursday mornings. Fans can also catch M! COUNTDOWN in primetime later that day when Danny Im hosts an English-language re-broadcast of the series at 8pm ET/PT.
