Kahi to 'graduate' from After School

After School's leader and vocalistKahiis set to leave the girl group to pursue a solo career.

Pledis Entertainment announced Tuesday thatKahiwill perform with the group June 17 in Japan and help promote the band there until September, then go her separate way. The agency said thatKahiis not leaving After School but rather "graduating".

"The group will release a new single on June 21 andKahidid not take part in it at all", said a Pledis spokesperson.

Despite the fact that she will no longer be a part of the girl group,Kahiwill stay with the entertainment agency.

After School made its debut in 2009 and has a unique system of "enrollment" and "graduation" for the frequent arrivals and departures of band members. A new girl has already been "enrolled" to replaceKahi.

The newest addition is 17-year-old Ga-eun, who was picked back in April not only for her dancing and singing skills, but also because she speaks Japanese.

애프터스쿨의 멤버 가희가 그룹을 탈퇴하고 솔로로 전향한다.

애프터스쿨의 소속사 플레디스는 5일 가희가 애프터스쿨에서 졸업(탈퇴) 후 솔로 활동을 한다고 공식 발표했다.

플레디스 측은 "가희가 오는 17일 일본 도쿄에서 있을 애프터스쿨의 앵콜 콘서트를 비롯해 9월 초까지 예정되어 있는 남은 일본 스케줄을 마무리 한 후 본격적인 솔로 활동 준비에 들어갈 예정"이라고 밝혔다.

가희 역시 소속사를 통해 "그동안 너무나 큰 사랑을 주신 애프터스쿨의 팬 여러분과 데뷔 때부터 지금까지 함께 울고 웃으며 고생했던 우리 멤버들에게 너무나 감사하다"고 전했다. 그녀는 또 "처음 시작하는 마음으로 솔로 앨범 준비와 연기 공부도 병행해 더 새로운 가희의 모습을 보여드릴 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다 하겠다"고 밝혔다.

따라서 이번 애프터스쿨 일본 투어콘서트는 가희에게 애프터스쿨 멤버로서 마지막 콘서트가 될 예정이다.
한편 애프터스쿨은 오는 21일 새 멤버 가은의 정식 데뷔와 함께 본격적인 국내 활동에 들어간다.
