Jo Sumi tells all on local talk show

SopranoJo Sumihas put an end to rumors she is pregnant with a confession that she is infertile.

Rumors about the singer's possible pregnancy followed concert cancellations in recent months.

Speaking on Tuesday's episode of the KBS talk show "Kim Seung-woo's Seung Seung Janggu", the renowned singer revealed that she discovered she was infertile after she was diagnosed with a uterine fibroid (benign tumor) the day before a performance of "Lucia di Lammermoor" in Sydney, Australia, in 2003. She cancelled the performance, but didn't reveal the reason at the time.

Jo also revealed other details of her personal life on the program. She said she was expelled from Seoul National University because of her low grades, although she had entered the school at the top of her class. She said her grades fell because she was madly in love with her first boyfriend, who broke up with her a few months after she left Korea to study music in Italy.
