On December 6 local time, American media company Bloomberg published its 2018 Bloomberg 50, a list of “The People Who Defined Global Business in 2018.” The yearly list recognizes notable accomplishments in a wide variety of areas including business, entertainment, finance, politics, technology, and science.

Each year, Bloomberg selects 50 names for the list “utilizing its worldwide resources, from 2,400 journalists to unique, proprietary data and analytics,” choosing people who influenced the world that year “in measurable, quantifiable ways.”

Bloomberg pointed to BTS’s 2018 achievements in the United States as an indicator of the group’s influence, writing that they had achieved “an unprecedented level of success in the U.S.” by becoming the first Korean artist to top the Billboard 200 with their album “Love Yourself: Tear“—a feat they later repeated in August with “Love Yourself: Answer.”

Congratulations to BTS on an incredible year!
