"Oh My Ghostess" Episode 4

"Oh My Ghostess" Episode 4

"Oh My Ghostess" is chugging along at quite a nice clip. We learn a little bit more about our main characters, get a huge and wonderful dose of sexy humor, and watch relationships build and grow.

Soon-ae may be a blessing in disguise for both Seon-woo and Bong-seon . She is vivacious, tenacious, and the sort of personality who draws others out from within themselves. She forces Seon-woo to face his one-sided crush and many things that make him embarrassed. Her brazen way of interacting with him gives him little time to think, a past time he is quite wont to indulge in. Although this show is rigidly scripted, I love how naturallyJo Jeong-seokreacts toPark Bo-yeong's flittering Soon-ae. He is hapless and gawking in her presence. Perhaps when Bong-seon returns he will be able to draw her out of her shell.

I absolutely love the sex-hungry Soon-ae chasing and stalking Seon-woo once she realizes that he's the one man that can complete what she believes to be her ghostly unfulfillment. It isn't right to use another's body to do so, but the way the antics are used for both humor and character growth is brilliant. Her incessant cajoling is a character trait that gleans juicy reactions from everyone around her, including Soon-ae's father who is reminded of his deceased daughter. She starts caring for him and her brother in a way that will hopefully inspire them to lead better lives.

We finally get a glimpse into Officer Choi Seong-jae, the kindly husband of Eun-hee who has been left mysteriously undeveloped. There were several hints dropped that he too may be a victime of ghostly possession. One cut screen shows his face as Seohbingo the shaman mentions ghosts. Seohbingo mentions that he is far away, as though on an island. (Perhaps that is what has happened to Bong-seon as well.) Also, Sung-jae isn't caught by Soon-ae as ghost when they eat together, so perhaps the ghost comes and goes.

Seon-woo's sister, Eun-hee, gets a smidge of development as we see her mourning over her past as a ballerina and the fact that she can't get pregnant. We don't get much more than that, but I have a feeling she will grow in tandem with Sung-jae. It may even grow as we learn more about how Soon-ae died. This episode surfaced a dream about drowning - perhaps she drowned. Perhaps it's symbolic. I do like that "Oh My Ghostess" delivers possibilities and makes us think and guess, and ultimately, wait anxiously for answers.

Although she hasn't made an appearance in three episodes, Bong-seon is not forgotten. In fact, Seon-woo constantly compares her current behavior to her past behavior, wondering how it could've changed so much. Even more, his concern for her well-being is genuine and that sort of concern stems from more than a few days of a bubbly personality. I bet there's a hidden connection in there somewhere that we haven't yet explored. Let's get exploring!
