Lee Young-ae Has Twins

Lee Young ae

Lee Young-ae gave birth to twins on Sunday morning at Cheil General Hospital in central Seoul. According to her management agency, the actress (40) insisted on natural birth instead of a Caesarean despite her age and is resting comfortably after being released from hospital Monday afternoon.

"The mother and babies are in good health and her husband and family are busy answering phone calls from well-wishers," her agent said. "The grandparents on both sides are very happy because of the smooth births."

Lee, who married a Korean-American businessman in Hawaii in August of 2009, last year suspended her studies for a PhD in theater at Hanyang University when she found out she was pregnant. The last movie Lee appeared in was "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" by director Park Chan-wook, released in 2005, which won the Cinema of The Future, the Young Lion Award and the Best Innovative Film Award in the non-competition section at the Venice International Film Festival in September that year.
